WOSTTL
– West Of Scotland Table Tennis League this week.
– Unfortunately EKTTC A lost 6-3 away to Nomads B in Division 3 on Friday night at Calderbank.
– In the Div 4 top of the table clash EKTTC B continued their good form with an 1-8 away win against EKTTC C.
– Next week the only match being playing is EKTTC A home in the preliminary round of the Divisional Cup to Dunlop B.
– Further info at TT365
– The last time EKTTC featured teams in the WOSTTL was in 2019/20 and further back in 2016/17.
– If you select the team name on the league table you can find out more info on who played and how they performed.
– Some familiar names still performing very well.
Friday Club Night
– The club nights continue to be busy with a welcome to new members Subith and daughter Mithra.
– Great to see Keith return to help encourage our juniors.
– Thanks to Brendan, Keith, Andrew and Kyle for their support.
Club Fees
– Just a reminder to pay club fees if you have not done so already.
Table Tennis Equipment
– If you would like help or advice on buying a new bat, blades or rubbers or any TT equipment just ask any of the coaches.
Finally
– Many people who visit Pop in & Play who played table tennis when they were younger often ask questions about the changes in the game on in the rules.
– Here’s a reminder of some key changes in recent times.
1. Prior to 2001 table tennis was played up to 21 points with service changing every 5 points and then it changed to 11 in 2001
with service changing every 2 points. If both players (or both pairs in doubles) score 10 points, then the game is won by the
first player (or pair) who wins by 2 points.
2. The size of the table tennis ball changed from 38mm to 40mm in 2000 for the first time since 1937 to slow the game down and for viewers watching on TV.
3. In 2002 the ITTF changed the rules on service to prevent a player from hiding the ball during service.
4. Then in 2014/2015 balls were changed from celluloid to plastic.
Thanks for your support
Peter
