West of Scotland U14 Schools Qualifier – Saltcoats Sunday 19th January 2024
– Club members Peter and Kacper went along to this schools event not sure what to expect in terms of progress.
– The priority was to get through the group stages.
– Peter won all of his group stage matches very comfortably to progress to last 16.
– Kacper won 2 matches and lost 1 match to group seed to progress to a play off match.
– Both players in the play off were evenly matched which resulted in this being a difficult one to predict.
– Kacper started very well and dominated the first game. His opponent took the second game.
– Then the match went to 2-2. Kacper dominated the final game and won the match 3-2 to make it through to last 16.
– A great performance from Kacper against a very difficult opponent to book his place in last 16.
– Both Peter and Kacper met very challenging opponents in last 16.
– Peter did very well,at one stage – in what turned out to be the final game –
he was behind 6-9 and in a great comeback went on to win 11-9.
– A big performance from Peter which moved him into the last four.
– Kacper faced James Huang (No.1 seed) however although Kacper competed well, James won 3-0.
