  • If you have a TT table at home and would like to share a TT drill live on Skype for all club members to view, let us know.
  • We could have a club member coaching one of their parents a TT drill or playing a short game, that would be fun.
  • Club coaches could set you an off the table TT challenge just using a bat and ball.
  • Maybe we could start a competition between club members on TT challenges on and off the table.
  • If you have any ideas or would like to take up the TT challenge let me know.

Club News – 22nd March 2020

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all safe and well.

I would like to share some video links with you that hopefully you will find useful and look to analysis.

This is a good time to think about our approach to training and how we play the game and how we could improve it.

Sometimes coaches and players look at video links but don’t take time to analysis them probably.

If you are fortunate to have access to a table at home try some of these serves/drills. If not take some notes and look to put these into practice on our return.

Enjoy.

Take care.

Thanks for your support,

Peter

Coronavirus Update – All Table Tennis suspended until further notice

Hi again everyone,

Following my earlier update, Table Tennis Scotland has now issued advice to suspend all Table Tennis activities in Scotland until further notice.

See the full notice here.

Apologies for the short notice in regards to tonight’s planned activity, but I am sure you will understand why we are following that advice.

We will keep you posted as future advice is received.

Best wishes

Brendan

Coronavirus – Club Update 17/3/2020

Hi everyone

As a club, we will continue to monitor government guidance and endeavour to make the right decisions in regard to the current Coronavirus pandemic as it affects Scotland and the UK.

Our main sources of information are the NHSInform Coronavirus web page and the Scottish Government Coronavirus in Scotland web page.

The advice, as of today, is that:

  • People over 70 and those who have high risk and underlying health conditions are being strongly advised to stay at home as much as possible and significantly reduce unnecessary social contact.

The advice is also that people should:

  • minimise social contact by avoiding crowded areas and large gatherings, including religious congregations and smaller gatherings such as restaurants, pubs, bars, clubs, cinemas and gyms.
  • avoid using public transport as much as possible.
  • work from home when possible.
  • follow the latest health and travel advice, and follow basic hygiene precautions, such as washing hands frequently, not touching their face and covering their nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
  • People showing symptoms suggestive of coronavirus should stay at home for seven days and only contact NHS 111 or their local GP if their symptoms worsen during that period.
  • Members of a household where someone has suspected symptoms should stay at home for 14 days.

We think the club’s activities remain on the margins of this advice and as such, tonight’s club night at AMC and the WoS Senior League match in Motherwell currently go ahead as planned. We completely understand any personal decisions not to attend that you might make. However, if you could let us know if you will not be attending on a night that you normally would, that will help our planning.

We would ask that you maintain high levels of hygiene at club nights to protect yourselves and others.

If you are unwell or in a vulnerable group, please follow the advice above and do not attend the club.

We will provide regular updates as further advice emerges.

Stay safe and best wishes

Brendan.

Pop In & Play Volunteers wanted!

We need Volunteers!

In partnership with Table Tennis Scotland, South Lanarkshire Leisure and EK Life, we are planning a new venture in East Kilbride Shopping Centre called Pop In and Play.

Pop In & PlayThe plan is to kit out an existing unit in the shopping centre with Table Tennis tables and equipment and, under supervision, encourage people using the Centre to literally pop in & play Table Tennis whilst going about their normal business. We have the opportunity to have this facility open 7 days a week if we have enough volunteer support

It might look something like this….

If you are interested in supporting the venture by Volunteering, a full  description of the role can be found by following this link.

Alternatively, leave us a message on our web site, app or Facebook page and we will follow up with you.

There is no big commitment required – anything from a few hours a week would be great. The more volunteers we can get, the more hours the venue can be opened.

Go on, you know you want to!
