We had our 1,000th visitor to Pop In & Play Table Tennis in East Kilbride since we opened in late March 2023.
Robert and Michelle came in today and played along with their wee grand-daughter and were presented with a pack of training balls in recognition of this fantastic milestone 🏓❤️😀
Their sons were avid table tennis players in their youth and like many other visitors, they loved the experience and are committed to a return visit!

Opens Monday 27th March 1100 -1400. – Mon – Fri 11-2pm at EK Centre West (next to Deichmann shop on 1st floor) – Under 18’s must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.😀 – 4 x tables and bats and balls provided. – Many thanks everyone at the club for their support. – Thanks to Table Tennis Scotland in particular Richard Yule for his support and organising tables and signage. – Thanks also to club member and Trustee Tommy Nevin for his very kind donation of furniture for the unit. – However a special thanks must go to Brendan for all his hard work and persistence in delivering this great opportunity for the club and wider community.
🏓Friday Club Night 🏓 – Good session on Friday night. – Younger players enjoying some fun games with support from Keith and Brendan. – Good to see the level of interest in joining our club continues to grow. – While we acknowledge that our younger members have to carry their mobile phones as a means of contact, it is also important that our session time should be free of mobile phone use!!! – Despite our best efforts at times we are having to remind the younger members during the session to put their phones away. – We hope we can call on your support to help make this possible. – An appeal to all members on setting up table tennis tables – which at times can be a challenge. – Could I ask unless you have a good understanding on how to set up tables correctly that you leave it to the members who do? – I highlight this as a safety measure and hope you understand that while we appreciate you might be trying to help, this is to ensure everyone’s safety.

Following last week’s announcement, we are delighted to confirm that the first Pop In & Play table tennis venue in South Lanarkshire will officially open its doors on 27th March 2023. This initiative has been the culmination of 4 years of planning, discussion and action between East Kilbride Table Tennis Club (EKTTC), Table Tennis Scotland (TTS) and East Kilbride Shopping Centre.
Located in Centre West, East Kilbride, the venue will be supervised by local volunteers to offer shopping centre customers the chance to pick up a bat and play for free between 11am and 2pm Monday to Friday.
EKTTC are also in conversation with local community-based organisations to understand how the facility can be used to offer sessions and events tailored to meet the needs of the people served by those groups.
“We are delighted to open this facility for the benefit of the people of East Kilbride and visitors to the area”, said Brendan Faulds, Chair & Coach at East Kilbride Table Tennis Club. He continued, “The club has been an active part of the East Kilbride sporting landscape for over 45 years and this venue gives us the opportunity to support the community in a much broader sense, encouraging people to return to the sport or to take it up for the first time. We want to thank all our partners and supporters for their help to achieve this milestone and we look forward to welcoming players and volunteers into the venue. If the demand is there and we can attract a sufficient number of volunteers, we will expand the offering to cover more hours and days of the week. We look forward to working with other local community-based organisations to understand how the facility can be also used to offer sessions and events tailored to meet the needs of the people served by those groups”.
If anyone would like to partner with us or support the initiative as a sponsor or volunteer, please contact the club via the Contact Page
In partnership with Table Tennis Scotland (TTS), East Kilbride Table Tennis Club (EKTTC) will open the first Pop In & Play table tennis venue in the region in late March or early April 2023.
Located in Centre West, East Kilbride, the venue will be supervised by local volunteers to offer shopping centre customers the chance to pick up a bat and play for free between 11am and 1pm Monday to Friday. If the demand is there and we can attract a sufficient number of volunteers, there are plans to expand the offering to cover more hours and days.
EKTTC are also in conversation with several community-based organisations to understand how the facility can be used to offer sessions and events tailored to meet the needs of the people served by those groups.
“This is the culmination of over 4 years work and focus, which was severely impacted by the pandemic, and we are delighted to have got this over the line”, said Brendan Faulds, Chair & Coach at East Kilbride Table Tennis Club. He continued, “The club has been an active part of the East Kilbride sporting landscape for over 45 years, nurturing junior players and producing some top Scottish talent during that period. This venue gives us the opportunity to support the community in a much broader sense as well as encouraging people to return to the sport or to take it up for the first time. We want to thank East Kilbride Shopping Centre for their support in helping us achieve this milestone and to Sporting Memories Scotland who are helping us shape our offering for them and for other community groups, to help them use the venue to achieve their aims and maximise their benefit from it”.
EKTTC will announce the official opening date in the next couple of weeks.
