Club News – 23rd September 2019

Hi Everyone,

WOS Senior League v Joe Wilson B Tuesday 17th September

  • Our first league match of the season started with a disappointing result against Joe Wilson B, losing out 9-0 on Tuesday night.
  • However players will learn and improve from that experience.
  • Thanks to Jamie for providing transport.
  • Next match away Glasgow South E on 3rd October.

ELTTL U18 & U13 Assessment at Bathgate Academy Sunday 22nd September 2019.

  • Delighted with four players who attended this event.
  • U18
    • James and Bruce competed well in the first group stages in separate groups against 3 experienced players.
    • In second group stage of 6 players Bruce won all but one of his matches and James lost out on a couple.
    • Players pleased that they had entered and competed will be better prepared next time.
    • Good experience gained by both players.
  • U13
    • At first group stage Diarmid and Thomas in groups of 3 competed very well.
    • Both competed well against both seeded players in their group.
    • In second phase of group 6 both players again upped their game.
    • Diarmid won all his games.
    • Thomas lost out on a couple of matches.
    • Delighted that both played exceptional well at times today.
    • Diarmid losing only one match all day was very impressive.
  • Thanks to parents for their support at what was a very well organised and enjoyable event for all involved.

Player of the Month

  • This week we will announce our first player and young player of the month. See attached.
  • Looking forward to it.

Tuesday Club Night

Hi Everyone,

WOS Senior League

  • EKTTC Juniors consisting of Luke, Ellis and Cameron will have their first WOS Senior League match away to Joe Wilson B on Tuesday night.
  • Euan will coach a squad of 6 players Luke, Robbie McKenzie, Jack, Cameron, Ellis and Bobby through the season.
  • Credit to the players for stepping up to the challenge.
  • Thanks to parents for their support.
  • Good luck to all players.

Under 13s and U18s Assessment – Bathgate Academy

  • Three club players James, Bruce and Diarmid will head to Bathgate on Sunday 22nd September.
  • If you would like to attend we will reduce cost of entry by 50% to encourage you to go along.
  • This tournament is suitable for all players under 18.
  • Everyone will get lots of games and find their level throughout the day.
  • Whether it is your first tournament or you are a regular, this is the tournament for you!

Club News – 8th September 2019

Hi Everyone,

Stephen Gertsen club night

  • Stephen Gertsen delivered another great session on Friday.
  • Delighted with the players and club coaches response on the night.
  • Probably one of the best sessions to date.

WOS Junior League

  • We have decided to have a break from the league this season and look to explore other options.
  • Anyone interested in trying the event below let me know.
  • We would like to encourage and help support players who plan to attend.

  • Many thanks to all coaches who attended, in particular Chris who planned and organised.
  • Once again coaches give of their time to support our club and plan ahead for new season.

Player of the Month

  • The club have decided to introduce a player of the month and a young player of the month this season.
  • When does it start? This month!
  • The winners will receive a trophy for a month.
  • When they return the trophy they will present it to the winner the following month.

St.Andrews & St.Brides After School Club

  • Thanks to Erin for organising and setting up on Tuesday a TT after school club.
  • The first time that we’ve had a club supported at the school so well done to Erin and good luck.

Club News – 25th August 2019

Hi Everyone,

Welcome New Member

  • Delighted to welcome Eve Docherty to our club.
  • Eve started on Tuesday night and enjoyed it so much she plans to come back this week.

Welcome back

  • A warm welcome back to Ayaan and Ans who look as if they have never been away.
  • They also brought along their younger brother Aban who enjoyed his first night.

Girls – give TT a go!

  • We would like to encourage more girls into our club like Aria and Eve our recent new starts.
  • We have two young newly qualified female TT coaches (Erin & Jennie) who are keen to develop their coaching skills with girls as well as boys.
  • I heard a statistic recently that stated 23 % of girls aged between 5-7 years participate in sport.
  • 9% of girls aged between 13-15 years participate in sport. We need to do more to change these stats.
  • If you know any girls who would like to give TT a go please let me know.

Thomas Gray

  • Thomas has agreed to support the coaching team at our club.He will help coach new starts at our club nights.
  • Knowing Thomas he will be enthusiastic and focused when taking on this role.

Club Visit – Stephen Gertsen

    • We have upgraded nets and posts for Tuesday club night and provided new practice balls.

    • We have also provided new equipment in the form of nets and posts for our club night on a Friday.
    • New TT practice balls will replace 3* balls on a Friday night.
    • The cost and misuse by players resulting in continual replacement was no longer viable.
    • Please look after your club equipment and take care setting it up.

Pop in & Play Table Tennis

  • Table Tennis Scotland have set up a few Pop in & Play centres in Scotland and there is more to come.
  • Brendan is currently working with TTS to set up one in our area.
  • Could this be how we increase participation in our sport in the future?

West of Scotland Senior League

  • We have submitted our interest in playing an U16 team this season in the WoS Senior League and still await confirmation.
  • Duncanrig HS has been provisionally booked in anticipation of this being confirmed.
  • We will keep you posted on further developments.
  • We are keen for players who registered an interest before the break confirming their commitment to this league campaign as quickly as possible.

Club News – 7th August 2019

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a good and relaxing break.

Club nights

  • We will return to or normal club night routine on:
    • Tuesday 13th August at AMC and
    • Friday 16th August at JWSC.
  • Looking forward to it!!!

WOS Junior League

  • Proposed dates for WOS junior league are below:
    • Sunday 15th September 2019 – Drumchapel High School
    • Sunday 17th November 2019 – TBC
    • Sunday 19th January 2020 – TBC
    • Sunday 29th March 2020 – TBC
  • The cost of junior league being held at Drumchapel HS has quadrupled !!!
  • Although the first fixture will be held at this venue – after being subsidised by
  • Drumchapel TTC -we do not know where remaining fixtures will be held.
  • Watch this space.

WOS Senior League

  • We have submitted our interest in playing an U16 team this season in WOS Senior league and await confirmation.
  • Duncanrig HS has been provisionally booked in anticipation of this being confirmed. We will keep you posted on further developments.
  • Keen for players who registered an interest before break confirming their commitment to this league campaign if we are successful in our application.

East Kilbride Youth Disability Sports Club

  • We had a successful TT session with EKYDSC at Duncanrig HS on Saturday 27th July.
  • The attendance was very good and seemed to be enjoyed by all.
  • Many thanks to Robbie Maitland and Chris McKenna for their support.

Hi Everyone,

Parents Challenge Tuesday 18th June at AMC 7pm

  • Another great night on Tuesday night with some fun games.
  • Terrific turnout and good to see parents enjoying the session.

Friday club night

  • Our last club night of season finished with League Ladder which was good fun.
  • Thanks to Brendan for organising the ladder.

Committee Meeting on 17th June at 7pm Murray Owen Centre.

  • Thanks to everyone who attended and supported the club meeting.
  • Good to see on going plans for the future discussed.

Mental Health Hub Programme includes TT

  • Thanks to Brendan and Robbie who were pleased with how the event turnout on the day.
  • The participants thoroughly enjoyed the experience and there may be an opportunity to support this group more later in the year.

Big Thanks

  • To Karen for bringing along gifts for the players on Friday that were much appreciated by all.
  • To everyone at the club for their support this year which has been tremendous.

Your Club offers you more than Table Tennis!

  • The club has been been transformed in 2018/9 and good foundations have been put in place to develop the club over the coming years.
  • We have always encouraged players to develop their game as Table Tennis players but also given them the option to improve their life skills.
  • This season these opportunities were taken up by players and as a result we now have coaches with great potential and a list of players with first aid skills.
  • We have a number of key people within the club working hard to improve various aspects of the club.
  • All we ask is that if you are given the opportunity to improve your life skills you remember to give something back to the club as a thank you.

Summer Break

  • We will return on Tuesday 13th August at AMC and Friday 16th August at JWSC.
  • Have a great break and take care.
