WOS Junior League Sunday 3rd February 2018 – final league matches

• Div 1 EK A and EK B finished 4th and 7th respectively
  • EK A team won a match as North Ayrshire B failed to attend and lost a match.
  • EK B team won a match as North Ayrshire B failed to attend and lost a match.
  • Delighted that players have competed in a challenging league.
  • The EK B team should not have been placed in this Division but not surprisingly their attitude has been great.
  • Division 1 – League Standings
• Div 2 EK C finished in 2nd position
  • EK C won both matches.
  • Well done to all players and also Ashton who competed for EK C in first match yesterday.
  • Pleased that the players produced two good wins but they had to play well to do so.
  • Division 2 – League Standings
• Div 3 EK D finished in 4th position
  • EK D won a match and drew a match.Considering both Michael and Bruce had little experience at start of league they have done so well.
  • Players continue to improve growing in confidence but need to continue to work on their game.

  • Disappointed that 3 out of our 4 teams missed out on a match today because we had a no show from two teams.
  • Thanks to parents for their support yesterday.
  • Next WOS Junior League event is Sunday 17th of March which is a singles event for each division.

Coaches Meeting – Monday 21st January 2019

• Venue: Murray Owen at 7pm
• Thanks to Chris for organising meeting and all the coaches for their input.
• Plans in place for next few months which will involve our new coaches

Test Bats

• The club has decided to purchase 4 bats which will have different grades of rubbers on each side.
• This will help coaches understand the different types of rubbers available and the benefits.
• The club players will also have the opportunity to try out bats if planning to buy new rubbers for their own bats.
• Great idea from Bill.

West of Scotland Schools Sunday 13th January Drumchapel HS

• Luke competed well at the schools U16 event playing against two very good opponents and losing out to both.
• Unfortunately because of a disappointing turnout that was all the matches that Luke had on the day.

Stephen Gertsen National Coach Friday 11 January

Butterfly Skills

• Well done to Bobby Gray who completed Gold Advanced – the final stage of Butterfly Skills.
• Also to Jack Brown and Michael Egan who completed Silver Improver and finally Michael, Paul, Francis and Bruce on completion of Bronze Improver.

WOS School Qualifiers Sunday 13th January 2018 – 10am start

East Kilbride Table Tennis Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Friday 18th January 2019 at 7pm in the John Wright Sports Centre.

The meeting will last 1 hour and will be followed by the club’s Friday Training session which will last till 9:30pm.

We have picked this time to encourage as many players, parents and other interested parties to attend and I thank you for your support in this.

One important part of business at the AGM is the election/re-election of Office Bearers including those of Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Child Protection Officer, Club Captain & Parent Representative(s). We have volunteers at the club fulfilling these roles at present, but we always seek new volunteers who wish to play a more active role in the running of the club.

Whilst we have already sought nominations for Club Captain, we welcome any nominations for the other roles up until 12 noon on Tuesday 15th January 2019. Please send any nominations, with the consent of the nominee, to eastkilbridetabletennis@gmail.com – it is OK to nominate yourself!

Finally, there has also been a slight adjustment to the Club Constitution moving the timing of the AGM from December to January each year to allow for a full year’s Financial Report to be presented to members. You will be asked to approve this change at the AGM.

Training Camp JWSC Saturday 15th November 1530 -1730

WOS Junior League Sunday 9th December 2018 – Drumchapel HS

• Div 1 EK A and EK B
  • EK A team drew a match and lost one match. EK B team lost both matches.
  • However delighted with some good individual performances against some good teams.

• Div 2 EK C
  • EK C team also drew one match and lost one match.
  • The team only had two players so a challenge for both players but pleased they stuck to task in hand.

  • EK D lost both matches.
  • All players gained confidence when they won games but maybe lost some when they didn’t get results.
  • However I’m encouraged with signs of improvement and confident players will work on their game.

Friday Club Night

• Delighted with response to Parent Challenge on Friday night.
• Well done to all.
• The final Friday club night of this year will be this coming Friday 14th Dec at JWSC which will close early on remaining two Fridays 21st and 28th Dec.
• The club night will return on Friday 4th January.

Tuesday Club Night

• Last Family Fun night of the year….thanks to everyone who attended!
• The final Tuesday club night of this year will be Tuesday 18th December returning on Tuesday 8th January 2019.
