Club News – 27 September 2021

Hi Everyone,

AMC – Tuesday Club Night
– We are hoping to hear this week from Alistair McCoist Complex about the restarting of our Tuesday club night.
– A few members have already indicated they would like to attend both nights.
– If you plan to attend the club on a Tuesday night let me know.

JWSC Hall – Friday Club Night
– Could I ask for your assistance in supporting the coaches when arriving or leaving hall?
– Please register and have your temperature taken before moving around hall.
– Help clean tables, put in place table surrounds and nets & posts on tables.
– Before leaving hall help remove nets & posts and tables surrounds if required.
– Setting up tables can be a challenge and to avoid accidents – unless you are familiar with setting up tables – it’s probably best left to coaches.

Club Night Structure
– In the coming weeks we are looking to change the format/structure of our club night.
– The session will be setup with a view to improving players TT skills.
– An hour will be set aside for anyone who wants to participate.
– All players as a group will then come together to finish the session with games for remaining time.
– We understand this will not suit everyone and we are aware some members do not wish to participate and will accommodate their wish not to do so.
– The club wants to develop and improve the players TT skills and give them a better understanding of the game.
– If you have any thoughts let me know.

Thanks
– Thanks to everyone for their support in my absence over past few weeks.

Club Kit
– We have two club shirts and shorts in limited sizes (mainly junior).
– If your interested let me know.
– Shirts (£15.00) Shirts and shorts (£30.00).

The Two Robbies – Thanks

Robbie Maitland and Robbie McKenzie have taken a break from the club for the moment.

Robbie Maitland is now working full-time as a chef in Glasgow’s west end and due to work commitments will be unable to attend.
He started as a very young competitive club and junior league player and then progressed to a UKCC Level 1 club coach.
As a club coach Robbie will be missed not only for his great support with young players in particular but also his epic matches with Euan on both Tuesday and Friday nights.
We wish Robbie all the best with his new job and hope to see him at some point in the future when time allows.

Robbie MacKenzie is on his travels to Kentucky University having gained a football scholarship.
I have no doubt in my mind Robbie will look to play TT at University at every opportunity as he just loved the game.
Always willing to learn and part of our senior squad he will be missed for his bubbly character and the support he provided on our behalf at his school club over past few years.
He also helped us out during our many virtual club sessions. Coaching his Dad on two occasions on his own table at home on Butterfly Skills. That was a first and great fun as well.
We wish Robbie Mac all the best with his studies and hope to see him when he returns.

More great examples of volunteers, players and coaches who support our club.

Club News – 19th July 2021

Hi everyone

On speaking to John Wright Sport Centre last week they have advised that can expect to be notified this week as to when the club can restart.

We have seen many false starts over a number of months.
Only one venue – JWSC- is likely to be available to be used.

At the moment, week commencing 2nd August 2021 has been suggested as our return date.
I will keep you posted.

If you have decided you no longer wish to attend the club please advise as soon as you can.

Thanks for your support
